Looking for Heros

We are all looking for heros:

• Jesus was and is our example
• People in the church are our hero

Romans 1:1-17

• About 50-60 AD
• Reasons:
  • Wanted to see their faith.
    • It was reported everywhere.
  • To encourage them
  • He wanted to reap a harvest.
• Paul was who he was because of Gods grace.
  • We persecute the church if we live in sin.
• "Righteous will live by faith."
  • What does he mean by righteous?
    • Does not mean you are part of a church
    • Does not mean you are doing religious things

Matthew 7:21-23

• You can be religious and not be in a right relationship with God
• Many will say this because:
  • They were not taught correctly
  • Believe the wrong things.
  • Did not obey what they knew

Matthew 15:1-14

• You can appear to be religious and not not be right in God's sight.

Acts 19:13-16

• Can be spiritual and not be righteous.
• "Who are you?"
  • Membership in a church doesn't mean salvation.

Matthew 10:26-31

• What heart and attitude should you have?
  • Comes from a fear of God.
  • Knowledge of Judgement
  • Fear saves us!
    • Taxes
    • Getting traffic tickets.
