Why Truth Matters?
1. Truth in morality matters too - when we are wronged
Morality effects everything we do - financially, socially, psychology, spiritually, and physically
2. Truth matters and our success and failure depends on it
Every law declares one thing right and one wrong
- Right to vote
- Slavery
- Human rights
Example:
If the Bible is not true, then many Christians are wasting a lot of time, money, and their lives
If atheists are correct, then might as well lie, cheat and steal, there are no consequences in eternity
Even temporal teachings can have an impact
- Arabs being taught Jews are pigs
- Mother Teresa teaching Hindus about karma and reincarnation - leading people to ignore the cries of suffering
(Believing that those who suffer deserve it because it caused by something they did wrong in a previous life)
Summary
- Opposites cannot be true at the same time in the same sense
- Through many observations (induction) we can draw reasonable conclusions (deductions)
- Truth in morality and region has temporal and maybe even eternal consequences.
Apathy and ignorance can be fatal
