Not everything can be proven by science

Rational beliefs that can not be proven by science:

  1. Mathhematics and logic - science can not prove them because science presupposes them
  2. Metaphysical - other minds that exist
  3. Ethical Judgement - Morality is not subject the sciencific method
  4. Aesthetic judgements - opinion based
  5. Science itself

Scientific method is just one way of finding the truth

Science is built on philosophy:

  • Science cannot be done without philosophy - assumption we can reason correctly
  • Philosophical assumptions can dramatically impact conclusions - when we presuppose something, we can lean a certain way
  • Science doesn't really say anything, scientists do - results need to be interpreted, personal preferences can interfer
