Why was Jesus not more overt?

  1. Jesus didn't want interefence from the Jews
  2. Jesus was the perfect example of humility and servitude
  3. He gave enough evidence to convince the open-minded but not enough to overwhlem the free will of those wishing to cling to their own traditions

Indirect Denials of Deity

Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone - Matthew 19:17

In effect, He is saying: Do you realize what you are saying by calling me good?

He wanted him to think about about that statement mean. Only a few verses later to Himself as the "Son of Man" who site on His glorious throne - Matthew 19:28

John 14:28 - The Father is greater than I

Matthew 24:36 - No one know the hour but the Father

These both can be explained by Trinity nature of God, one god, three persons in one divine essence

Jesus while on earth had physical limitation, being both human and God at the same time

DId Jesus know all things? As God, yes; As human, no.
Did Jesus get hungry? As God, no; As human, yes
Did Jesus get tired? As God, no; As human, yes

Father and Sons are equal in essence but different in function, father holds a higher office

Jesus is equal to the Father in divine nature, divine essence, divine attributes and divine character
Jesus is Subordinate to the Father in human nature, human function, human ofice, and human position

Objections to the Trinity

Trinity can not be fully understood by finite beings but we can apprehend the Trinity like we apprehend the ocean

Trinity is sound scriipturally as well as philiosophically

Helps us understand love - how can love exist in a ripid monotheistic being? The Tri-unity Godhead solves the problem

God the Father (lover), God the Son (loved one, and the God the Spirit (spirit of love)

Key Phrase: Trinity can not be fully understood by finite beings but we can apprehend the Trinity like we apprehend the ocean
