Contemporary churches mostly organize themselves in one or more of these ways:
- Church as a business - have a product, marking strategy, customers, market share, (ad)ministers, and titles
- Church as a school - teachers, classrooms, lessons
- Church as a charitable organization - gives services and good to those in need
- Church as a theater - musicians, directors, performers
- Church as a communiity center - gathering for social events
These groups still use the same words: kingdom of God, family, body of Christ for legitimacy, sound more biblical
Fundamentally at odds with the essential nature and mission of the the church
Since the groups are more or less one or more of these groups, the tend to take on other civic beliefs
It is not the church's essential mission to provide employment, social services, social acceptability, recreation, entertainment, etc
These worldly extra, trying to become what is in the world will not work. The world will try to take the church a direction it does not want to go eventually
- Parent expect churches to behave like daycare while not living the lesson at home
- Sunday service become invite your neighbor, focused on accomidation instead of worship
- Stage centered church, foucs on the performance, survey verse the creator
Key Phrase: It is not the church's essential mission to provide employment, social services, social acceptability, recreation, entertainment, etc
