7 Then the commander of the officials assigned new names to them; and to Daniel he assigned the name Belteshazzar, to Hananiah Shadrach, to Mishael Meshach and to Azariah Abed-nego.

Definition(s):
Azariah (Az-ar-eye-a): he that hears the Lord
Daniel (Dan-yell): judgment of God; God my judge
Hananiah (Han-an-eye-a): grace; mercy; gift of the Lord
Meshach (Mee-shakh): that draws with force
Mishael (Mish-a-el): who is asked for or lent
