2010-08-31 - Waking Dead - Our Story (part 1) Our life is a story We need someone to walk with us God has given us the Counselor - the Spirit of truth - John 14:16-17 We need someone that makes thing clear and true Not just an annual checkup but all the time The purpose of the Christian life is that our hearts might be restored and set free That is what Jesus came to do All sorts of damage has been done to your heart
Even our laughter is out of heartache - Proverbs 14:13 We are told to trust in the Lord (Proverb 3:5) - it is second nature to worry We are told to love one another deeply (1 Peter 1:22) - that is very rare The answers lie deeply in our heart The heart of a man is deep waters, but a man of understanding draws him out - Proverbs 20:5 |
2010-09-07 - Waking Dead - Deep Restoration (part 4) We need time in the presence of the Lord - Pslam 86:11-12
We declare the authority of Jesus over our hearts - he made our hearts - Psalms 33:15 He has redeemed our hearts - Romans 2:29 Sometimes he will take us back to a memory, a time and place where a shattering blow was given Anytime someone says, "I feel like there's this part of me..." we need to listen - somewhere in the heart Hidden many times because of a false comfort |
2010-09-19 - Waking Dead - Setting the Heart Free All spiritual warfare follows a simple pattern - James 4:7 Submit and resist Submit ourselves to Christ and resist whatever has come against us or those we love Their needs to "dailyness" to our walk 1. We have to choose to abide in Christ Consecrate our whole body:
Take our place under the headship of Christ The faith of centurion, he understood authority - Matthew 8:10 Most sins fall under:

2010-11-04 - Contagious Christian - The Peter Approach Peter was ready-aim-fire kind of guy He was unhesitant and full force When Jesus ask who he way, he gave an an immediate answer - Matthew 16:15-16 And he later even challenged Jesus' stated mission head on - can you imagine try to correct the Son of God? He wanted to be close to Jesus no matter what Tried to walk on water When enemies came Peter was ready to cut off their heads He was direct, bold and right to the point He was a perfect fit for Pentecost in Acts 2 - some one unafraid to take a stand about the crucifixion of Jesus Some people in the world need a Peter in their lives They won't come to Christ otherwise - they need someone who won't beat around the bush and helps them clarify/challenge about the truth of Christ |
2010-11-12 - Contagious Christian - Direct Method The method does not wait for opportunities to come about but creates them Basic it is you raising a spiritual topic and then see if the person is interested in talking about it Not forcing a person but opening wide a door for a person to walk through Example - If you would ever like to know the difference believe religion and Christianity and religion. Just let me know. I would be happy to talk about it with you It is a modern day way Jesus approached a woman in John 4. Not pressuring or forcing it on them but merely checking to see if they are interested Other way to approach people using the direct method of creating spiritual conversations:

2010-11-24 - Mission - People Beginning of His ministry - Luke 4
He was a man of sorrows, acquainted with suffering - Isaiah 53:3 He was tempted in every way, just as we are - Hebrews 4:15 Jesus' heart went out to people and it moved him to action Their needs drove Jesus' ministry Our charge is to walk as Jesus walked Luke 10 illustrates Jesus' plan as he send out the 72 disciples He challenged them to rejoice because their names were written in heaven The end challenge was to go and do likewise - Luke 10:37 Cannot be done unless it costs us something Seeking and saving the lost is accomplished by preaching the gospel and helping people |
2010-11-29 - Trusting God - Samuel Preached by Rob Milner Read 1 Samuel 13 Following God's instruction is the key to our success 1 Samuel 10:8 - Go to Gilgal and wait for 7 days and then we will sacrifice Samuel was the judge before their were kings Saul waited for 7 days but did not wait to do the burnt offerings He did not follow God's instructions exactly How long before we stop waiting? Ever wanted to take matters into our own hands? There is nothing as good as trusting and then God fulfilling his promise There are two battles:
James 4:7-8 - God calls us to submit to him fully Trust in God and not your situation
Protect your blacksmiths or you will be found defenseless 1 Samuel 13:19-21 What are the blacksmiths of our lives?

2010-12-06 - Mission - John's Walk with Jesus What disciples does not like the apostle John, the "apostle of love"? Not everyone
John stayed close to Jesus - Luke 9:28 He would never quit Jesus - Mark 14:32-34 John loved Jesus until the end - John 19:25-27 John changed:
How is our walk with Jesus? Do we focus our energy on our walk with Jesus? Only after walking with Jesus, can we change into the disciple Jesus' wants us to be |

2011-08-16 - Daughter Needs - Spiritual Leadership Dads are told there should be three goals:
It is much more than these three items - spiritual leader leads his wife and children toward maturity in Christ When we create spiritual goals, create activities and training designed to reach those goals An army has an organized plan designed to win battles Author's spiritual goals for his children: My child will:

2011-08-19 - Fearing God - No Darkness at All Note: The power when out when I was in the middle of this study God is holy not only from his creation but from sin Be holy, because I am holy - Leviticus 11:44-45 He is light and in him there is no darkness at all - 1 John 1:5 Not only is he the only one, God is totally pure. Isaiah 6 set both God's holiness and our show the only appropriate response to it When God's holiness, his transcendent majesty, and His moral purity.... Our reaction becomes a realization of our own insignificance Even though Isaiah was considered righteous man, his holiness suddenly became "unclean" - Isaiah 6:5 The word "unclean" is significant because it is what the leper must cry out when they walk around - Leviticus 13:34 Isiah saw his sinfulness as moral leprosy |
2011-08-21 - In Rememberence of Me Jesus called the disciples to the Passover fest before would head to the cross to reflect and remember their time together Luke 22:19-20 - Do this in remembrance of me Why? because we forget both little things and big things 1. Disciples forgot while they were at the table - v24 - Conversations they have had at the passover table:
2. Peter forgot the very same day the very same day and denied Jesus v54 - He forgot that Jesus said and he had the power to raise the dead I can relate:
Our forgetfulness is not a reflection of its importance but a reflection our weakness in remembering |
2011-09-07 - Followup: Grace (part II) Grace is almost too good to be true, but it is. The goal of this study is to help you to see the real God who loves you and how valuable you are to him. He valued you at the cost of his only Son, whom he gave up so that thee could be grace to forgive your sins and restore your relationship with him. Psalms 103:8-10
Matthew 18:21-35
As you continue your walk with God picture yourself in a world of God’s grace. And remember every time you stumble or fall down your landing in God’s grace. Just get back up and continue on in God’s grace. Not once, not twice, not seven times but continue on in God’s grace for eternity. |
2011-09-09 - Followup: Humility I (part II) What humility is not:
How was Jesus humble?
Question: What would Jesus advise you to do with that situation? To be like Jesus is to be humble |

2011-10-03 - Genesis 3 - The Fall of Man SummaryThe serpent deceived the woman; she and Adam ate from the tree. Man blamed woman, woman blamed the serpent. The earth became cursed, and God sent Adam and Eve out of the garden. ObservationsGenesis 3:1 - Did God really say Personal ApplicationI need to be aware of Satan's tricks continuously. He does not want to be noticed. I need to pray and reflect on how I am living my life and find where Satan is getting me to deviate even a fraction of a degree. I need also examine my thought and find out they are out of line with God's Word. I will ask others what they see where I have taken a devour on God's narrow road. |
2011-10-04 - Genesis 4 - Cain Murders AbelSummaryEve's sons made offerings to God. Only Abel's was acceptable, so Cain killed him. Abel's blood cried out and God sent Cain away. ObservationsGenesis 4:7 - if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at the door Personal ApplicationI wonder sometimes if I have my "ringer" loud enough for me to hear when God calls. A lot of times I look back on important events in my life and realize that I missed another lesson God was trying to teach me but I was not listening. I feel embarrassed that I was so selfish during that times. I want to listen voice from God more intensely. |
2011-10-05 - Genesis 5 - Genealogies (part I)SummaryAdam's line was: Seth, Enosh, Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech and Noah. Noah's sons were Shem, Ham and Japheth. ObservationsGenesis 5:2 - He created them male and female and blessed them Personal ApplicationThe challenge for me is simple: To finish the race [Acts 20:24] with great faith and perseverance. But not just to get by but to have a relationship with God that shines before others. When people talk about me, do they stop and mention my relationship with God like the Bible does with Enoch? What does God say about my faith? |
2011-10-25 - Mind Change - Help These three help in our walk: faith, thanksgiving, determination Faith inspires you. Thanksgiving gives you perspective. Determination keeps you moving. 2 Thessalonians 1:11 - every act prompted by your faith Philippians 4:6 - in everything with thanksgiving Luke 9:51 - Jesus resolutely set out for the cross |
2011-11-21 - Getting Advise (part I) One of the greatest advantages you have as a disciple is the wealth of knowledge, insight and experience available from all the other disciples in the church. These individuals have experienced a lot personally or have helped many people through tough or challenging situations in life and want to be there to offer help (or advise) to you. We came to God by letting Him use others to help us see the truth, and we will grow stronger and closer to God by letting others continue to help us. Getting advise will be of tremendous help to you in your Christian walk. This study will help you see how God uses advise to help you grow and your best for Him. Our feelings and emotions can often mislead us and hurt us
|
2011-11-30 - Growing (part I) As a young disciple, your commitment to God must be solid and steady. However, in no way does this mean you will be perfect or a “super-disciple” in an instant. And thankfully, God doesn’t expect you to be. What He does expect is something you and everybody else can do – GROW!! This study will help you to better understand how important growing as a disciple is, and provide you with some helpful ways to ensure that growth. Begin with the Bible

2012-01-04 - Day 32 - Walking as Jesus did 1 John 2:5-6 - Think back over the past several days. Are you walking like Jesus? Mark 1:21-28

2012-01-14 - Ministry - Driven By Zeal for God John 2:12-17; Romans 12:11; Numbers 25:6-13 Jesus faced many challenging situations in the ministry. He faced the overwhelming needs of the sick, the poor, the faithless and the empty but antagonizing religious leaders. He also faced an overwhelming sinful scene at the temple one day. Seeing that the temple worship had become simply a place to make money from others as they were sacrificing animals, Jesus decided to take action! After making a whip, he drove everyone from the temple area, overturning tables and scattering money everywhere! With many rebukes and challenges laid out to the religious crowd, the disciples thought of one word, "zeal." God blesses us when we take action against sin with our hearts full of zeal! Jesus was not afraid to be driven by zeal! Jesus was not holding back when challenged by sinful situations! He did not ignore, forget, and walk away thinking "tomorrow" or cowardly crumble with fear! 2012-01-15 - Ministry - The Generator of Power John 15:1-7; Mt 7:7-12; Luke 18:1-8 Prayer generates the power in a disciple's life. Without prayer, there is no power, no relationship with God, and no expectation of miracles. Prayer connects us to God's heart and reveals to us God's will. We can be afraid to pray because we think God will test us by not answering our prayers. James chapter 1 tells us that trials test our faith not unanswered prayer. We begin to pray with unbelief in our hearts and no expectation of answered prayer in our minds. God does not always answer when WE want Him to but He will answer. It is up to us to persevere and mature long enough to receive the answer. God desires to give us whatever we wish as long as we remain in relationship with Him. God is a merciful and loving God. He wants to bless us and encourage us. Generations of powerful men and women have walked before us in real relationship with God. They witnessed incredible answers to prayer. God has not changed since then. He is willing to answer; are you willing to pray? Pray with Passion Pray with Expectation Pray with Specificity Pray with Boldness Pray with Perseverance What three things will you pray about until they are answered, no matter how long it takes? |
2013-03-22 - Prayer of the Righeous - Intimate Prayer WHo is he who will devote himself to be close to me? - Jeremiah 30:21 God looks for people who will devote themselves to being close to him
Nehemiah had an intimate friendship with God:

2013-10-21 - Resolve to Lead Your Family The greater responsibility to raise your children is yours. When the dad leads, kids are up to twenty times more likely to stay in church long-term than when moms are the spiritual leaders at home
|
2013-10-22 - Leadership Founded in Love Jesus Christ founded his empire on love God not only wants you to lead your family but deeply love them Children feel much more secure if they know their parents love each other. Don’t wait for her. Step up and be the leader God meant you to be. It’s never easy. |
2013-10-23 - Protect Them Fathers are the primary protectors - physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are undisturbed - Luke 11:21 You should not only guard your own heart but your wife’s as well Teaches your children to love wisdom instead of developing a greater appetite for the world. The older your kids get, the more they will need to understand the rationale behind your rules. |
2014-01-25 - Bless Your Children We need to boldly redefined success for them = “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might” - Deuteronomy 6:5 1. God’s Word must “be on your heart.” Must always tell them how God is moving:
Every day gives you fresh, new material for making your life with Christ a front-row experience 2. Training your children to love God must occur within the context of close relationships. Talk about God is informal time:
Making disciples of all nations begins with your own children - it all starts with their hearts.
|
2014-01-27 - The Heart of a Child You can be the greatest explainer of truth. But if the very heart of your son or daughter does not believe ‘my daddy loves me,’ they will walk away. Restore the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers - Malachi 4:6 You can tell when a father doesn’t have his kids’ hearts. You sense the disrespect and anger, the bitterness and emotional distance. Jesus and His Father hearts were always in sync. When Jesus felt separation from the Father, it was the worst pain he could feel. |
2014-03-17 - Teach Them to Fear the Lord (part I) If you and your wife had two children and trained them to faithfully live for Christ, and both of them raised two more children to faithfully live for Christ as well, then those same ten generations could produce 1,024 faithful believers. Teach the Word “diligently” to your children “when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up” - Deuteronomy 6:7 Instruct “to fear the LORD your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments” - Deuteronomy 6:2 Love, truth, and respectful fear go hand in hand. Fearing the Lord transforms our thinking. |
2014-05-02 - The Miracle of John's birth Luke 1:13 - Your prayer has been heard A priest’s intercession for the nation undoubtedly included a petition for the Messiah, Israel’s promised Deliverer and King. The Creator and Sustainer of the universe was ready to answer a prayer that had been prayed for hundreds of years, but He purposely chose a man who could pray an old prayer with a fresh heart. The prayer at that exact moment may not have been for a son. Zechariah could not possibly have known was how intimately connected would be his corporate prayer for the Messiah and his personal prayer for a son. Not becoming hopeless over a repetitious request can be terribly challenging. We need to continue to walk faithfully with God even though you are disappointed. Zechariah waited a long time for God’s answer, but when it came, it exceeded everything the priest could have thought or asked. Can you even imagine being told in advance of your child’s conception that he or she would bring joy and delight to you and be great in the sight of the Lord?

2015-02-01 - Ask for Directions Give us more instructions about this - Judges 13:8 Angel appeared to Manoah's wife to tell her a special son was coming and laid out the ground rules Men stereotypically have a storng resistance for directions We try to please our wives when we only need to ask Does anything in your walk with Christ make you wonder which way to turn? |
2015-02-27 - Powerful Testimony He jumped up, stood on his feet and began to walk - Acts 3:7-8 That is the power of a transformed life This man was not looking for a miracle The apostles had no money to give him but they did not leave him empty handed Get up your mat and walk and he took off running and leaped and praise God Thousands likely turned to Jesus Christ from the personal testimony of one man - Acts 4:4 A changed life is a powerful testimony to the reality of the gospel You may not feel qualified to a large crowd about Bible doctrine or deep theology but can certainly testify to what God is doing in your life |
2015-03-06 - Earnest Prayer Epaphras always prays earnestly for you - Colossians 4:12 Early African converts were known for their commitment to prayer So much so their prayer spots were marked with worn paths to them If prayer was negligneted, it could be easily spotted - "Brother, the grass grows on your path" Epaphras demonstrated such genuine love for the Colossians and played a big role in establishing the church there - Colossians 1:17 He practiced three important elements of prayer
Can you make room for regular time of prayer on the behalf of those you love? Nothing makes more of a difference in your walk with Christ than regular times of prayer |
2015-04-30 - Inner Conflict I want to do what is good, but I don't. I don't want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway - Romans 7:19 Paul found himself unable to always do what he knew was right. He was equally unable to always avoid doing what he knew was wrong Paul reveled his genuine conflict over his desire to obey God perfectly and his inability to do so What Paul wanted more than anything was to have vicotry over sin We are sinners who must daily tap into God's grace and forgiveness You will find consistent success in avoiding sin only as you walk daily in the power of the Holy Spirit |
2015-05-24 - Defend Whats Right Listen carefully to these decrees and regulations, obey them so that you may live - Deuteronomy 4:1 Each of us naturally tends to think we have the right to adopt our our set of morals, standards, and spirituality Beleivers in Christ must reject such a belief Moses delivered an uncompromising message of strict obedience of God with no tolerance for sin He understood the importance of setting righteous standards for the people Moses faithfully walked this (not sinless) despite being labeled as:
Do you have the courage to risk anger, resentment, oppositon, or insults to follow God? God does not ask for perfection but a spirit-empowered obedience |
2015-06-09 - Walking with God One day he disappeared because God took him - Genesis 5:24 Enoch walked with God and simply disappeared but before he was taken up he was known as a person who pleased God - Hebrews 11:5 He pleased God because Enoch walked with him daily:
|
2015-06-22 - Acknowledge Your Limitations I have no one to put me into the pool - John 5:7 A good man always knows his limitations An unnamed sick man met Jesus one day knew his limitations by reponding with an "I can't" He was unable to walk for 38 years and he wait for someone to help get him into healing waters of the pool of Bethesda What he obvioudly couldn't do, Jesus did The man knew that on his own, he had no hope of changing his situation I CAN'T is sometimes the words Jesus wants to hear That phrase comes from the lips of the person who realizes his need for complete dependence of Christ |
2015-07-20 - Self-Fulfilling When Rehobam was firmly established and strong, he abandoned the Law of the Lord - 2 Chronicles 12:1 There is a lot self-help books and programs teaching we can find fulfillment in our stength, mind, and soul True fulfillment and strength is found walking closely with God and humbly obeying his commands Rehoboam took a good look at all he had accomplished and becamse self-satisfied and abandoned God He crowded out God's place in his heart Rehoboam leading the way:
Rehoboam failed as a leader and as a man of God because he found strength and satisfaction in his own accomplishments |
2015-12-10 - Guard Your Heart He noticed a woman of unusual beauty - 2 Samuel 11:2 Our enemy knows our weakness and it often comes to us through what we see David fell because he allowed himself to stare lustfully and sinful thought quickly turned into a sinful action He apparently learned from his blunder, he later wrote: "I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar - Psalms 101:3 Have you learned to safeguard your heart by safeguarding your eyes? Can a man walk on hot coals and not blister his feet? - Proverbs 6:28 |
2015-12-11 - Consistent Life Serve the Lord alone - choose today whom you will serve - Joshua 24:14 The greatest character qualities of any leader is the willingness to consistently "walk the walk" Joshua had flaws but he consistently exercised his faith and obeyed the God who called him to lead This is why he could confidently challenge his people to "choose today whom you will serve" He dared the Israelites to rid their loves of any remnants of idol worship and to follow God wholeheartedly Joshua consistant faithfulness helped lead his people into the Promise Land |
2015-12-13 - Steps of Faith Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus - Matthew 14:29 Learning to walk for a toddler is similar taking steps of faith - we dare to take steps, meet by success then failure Peter was easily the most impulsive of Jesus' disciples - said and did things that others thought about but did not dare to say or do Peter was a baby in faith who tried new things to discover what he is able to do His impulsive move to get out of the boat was greeted with success then panic and failure Peter clearly couldn't keep his eyes on Jesus but they were baby steps toward maturing his faith |
2015-12-21 - Show Repect They looked the other way so they would not see him naked - Genesis 9:23 Certain offices command respect:
Noah's two eldest sons respected their father positon even when he drank too much wine and passed out Their brother, Ham, on the other hand sinned aginst Noah and God by staring at his father - Genesis 9:22 Shem and Japheth went out of their way to cover their father - walking backward into the tent and covering him They did everything to protect their father's honor and enjoyed a blessing which their brother was excluded from |
2017-10-10 - Reason for His Study (part I) Mission is to help men fall in love with the character of Jesus Some spend much time with:
We can become so interested in the outer life of Jesus and miss the secret his heart has to tell Things Jesus experienced may be of some interest but not important It is the character of Jesus which has unique and endless significance New Testament writers were not interested in the outer Jesus but wanted us to have his character
They tried to describe how things affected him, how he looked at things, and how he felt toward things |
2018-03-29 - The Poise of Jesus The average man is one-sided, unsymmetrical and unevenly developed Strong in some characteristics and weak in others Jesus - we find ourselves in the presence of a man without flaw
Jesus is so well rounded on every side, men have never known where to classify him Men laid their traps to catch him but he walked bravely among them Even after all the attempts from this enemies to trip him up, the devil tried his friends |
