Chronological Order of the Crucifixion of Christ

(Most times are approximate.  Some are specifically stated in Scripture)

Events Preceding:
1. The Last supper - Luke 22:14
2. Gethsemane - Matthew 26:36
3. The arrest - John 18:12
4. At the house of Caiaphas - Luke 22:54

6:00 AM  (1st hour of the daytime)

Mark 15:1             Before Pilate
Luke 23:6-10        Sent to Herod

7:00 AM

Luke 23:11           Returned to Pilate
Luke 23:23-24      Sentenced

8:00 AM

Luke 23:26           Led to Calvary 9:00 AM
Luke 23:33           Crucified
 

10:00 AM

Mark 15:24            Soldiers divide up clothes
Luke 23:34           "Father forgive them..." 
Matthew 27:39-40   Insults shouted  "Come down from the cross!"
Mark 15:31            Chief priests mocked "He saved others..."
Luke 23:36            Soldiers mocked "Save yourself."
Luke 23:39            One criminal mocked "Save yourself and us."

11:00 AM

Luke 23:40,42        Other thief:  "Remember me..."
Luke 23:43            "Today you will be with me in paradise."                       
John 19:26-27       "Dear woman, here is your son..."


12:00 AM  (6th hour)

Mark 15:33           Darkness came over the whole land until the 9th hour.

Matthew 27:46     "My God, my God why have you forsaken me?"
John 19:28          "I am thirsty."

2:00 PM

John 19:30          "It is finished."
Luke 23:46          "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit."

3:00 PM  (9th hour)

Matthew 27:51   Earthquake and tearing in two of the temple curtain 
Matthew 27:52   Tombs break open 
Matthew 27:54   Centurion exclaims,  "Surely this was the Son of God." 
Luke 23:48         Confession of the multitude. 
John 19:31-32    Thieves legs are broken
John 19:34         Soldier pierces Jesus' side
John 19:34         The burial
Matthew 27:66   Tomb secured by a seal and guard is posted
