How Heavy is Your Load?

An old man and a young boy were walking along the road leading a donkey.

Someone said, "Look at that foolish old man, walking when he could be riding on that donkey." So the old man got on the donkey, and they continued their journey.

But a little farther down the road someone else said, "Look at that cruel man riding on that donkey while he makes the little boy walk." The man and boy looked at each other, and the boy got on the donkey while the old man got off and walked. And they continued on down the road.

But then another person said, "Look at that selfish boy, making that old man walk." So they decided that both of them would ride on the donkey.

But after they had gone a little farther, somebody said, "Look at that cruel man and boy, overloading that poor donkey." So both the man and the boy got off the donkey again. The next time someone saw them, the man and the boy were carrying the donkey.

If you live your life focusing on everybody else and what THEY think about what you should do, you'll wind up carrying an impossible load.
