Where was Abraham going?

In Genesis 12:1, God simply says to leave "your country...to the land I will show you."

The teaching in Hebrews could simply mean that Abraham did not know where he was going in the sense of not knowing where this promised land was. Thus, he set out for Canaan. And it was once he was in Canaan that God showed him that this was the promised land (Genesis 12:7).

Genesis 12:5 ~ Written by Moses (in third person) after history was made. It doesn't say that Abraham knew where the promised land was. God told Abraham when he was in the promised land. Abraham didn't know where the promised land was. Thus, he set out for Canaan.
