We should obey God because we want to please God more than ourselves
- 1 Thessalonians 4:1 - we instructed you how to live in order to please God; urge you to do this more and more
- Colossians 1:10 - we pray you live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way
- 2 Timothy 2:4 - No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs
- Hebrews 11:6 - Without faith it is impossible to please God
- 2 Corinthians 5:9 - So we make it our goal to please him
