What is the true assessment of who you are?
What your boss thinks? What your friend thinks?
 
Do you think most people have an accurate assessment of themselves?

What kind of reputation did the women have?
What kind of sin could it have been?
      Prostitute, adulteress, town drunk
 
What could have stopped her from coming to Jesus?
      Long walk, strange house, not invited
      Super important people, she was no one
      Thoughts of Jesus no accepting her
     
What was this woman’s attitude toward Jesus?
      Humble, broken
 
How did the woman demonstrate humility?
      Crying at His feet
      Anointing His feet with oil
      Overcame fear and doubt
 
Why did come to the point of being humble?
      Had an accurate of view of herself and Jesus. (In touch)
      In touch with the Bible….everyone has sinned.
      Wages of sin = death.
 
What was the Pharisee’s attitude?
      Critical of the women, Jesus
      Negative, cynical, judgmental, prideful
 
How did the Pharisees demonstrate pride?
      Didn’t do anything for Jesus
      Self-focused attitude, unloving attitude
      Should have been happy about the women repentance
 
How are we like the Pharisees?
      Prideful, self focused
      Critical to those being humble and obeying God
      Acting like everything is fine
 
How do we act when we really are in touch with who we are?
      Be humble about what kind of sinner I am
      Be broken hearted about our sin; forgiving people
      Concerned with what God thinks instead of people
 
So how do we get in touch?
      Stop comparing yourself to others or to Jesus
      Get some spiritual people in your life to tell you TRUTH
      Read the Bible, study God’s word – see how God views you
