What does following Jesus mean?

1. Requires an at-one obedience

John 14:15; 24

• Reveals - a genuine love for Jesus
• When was the last time you were effective in changing?
• Going to church isn't enough - "She didn't go to church"
• Parents want their children to obey at obey
  • God is our Father
  • Doesn't want to repeat

2. Requries total commitment

Matthew 8:19

• Reveals a deep trust in Jesus

• Can you say to Jesus, "I have left everything to follow you!"
  • While looking into his eyes?
• What am I giving up?

3.  Requires complete surrender of your life

Luke 9:23-26

• We get excited when we are free
• Are we dying to ourselves or giving into self
• We need to love to "give up control"
