Opportunity - set of circumstances that makes it possible to take action

• Mars rover called opportunity - suppose to last 90 mars days, 55x longer, over 5000 days
• When they plan to send people to Mars - there is an opportunty every two years

God is always looking for and creating opportunities - some success, some limited

• Adam and Eve opportunity in the garden, just don't go over there - FAIL
• Noah had to one chance to save the human race - WIN
• Pharoh was given 10 opportunites to change his mind - FAIL
• David and Golith - FAIL and WIN
• Jesus with disciples - FAIL and WIN

What opportunties has God put before us?

Opportunities to use our talent

Matthew 25:14-26

• Entrusted each of the servants with his wealth; God is the master and we are the servants
• Each talent was worth about 20 years of wages aka their ability, over to the years is looked as talent
• v18 - Everyone has at least one talent
  • Careful to not look down on those who have less, care to envy those who have more
• v19 - At some point, God will ask what we did with our talent(s). What stops us?
  • It's impossible.
  • Costs too much
  • It can't be done.
  • I failed too many times before
  • Its not that big off deal
  • I don't have what it takes - self doubt
  • It's too risky.
  • What if it doesn't work?
• The first two spent their time looking for opportunties - eager
  • There was some risk but it wasn't without faith
• The third guy (star) spent his time find a place to dig and then digging the hole - afraid to fail
  • Blaming God for his fear and lack of faith
• v24 - How were the servants simular? different?
  • Same amount of work
  • Different amounts of faith
  • Distorted view of the master
  • 3rd servant was playing safe - Keep in mind, he did not steal the talent, just didn't take the opportunity

How do we miss opportunities?

• Don't see a situation as a opporunity
• Not looking for them
• Not paying attention
